As I have just added this to my forums, I have posted this as a Mod, with a minor tweak for 6.2, in case anyone else would benefit from it for their forums, if they use groups, and wish for a method of people joining a group. Thanks to JustDave for the origianl code.<br /><br />If it of use to anyone great - it is a minor tweak, but could probably be taken a stage further by allowing users to autoswitch between certain groups <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Mod Name - Groups - Auto Signup v 1.0<br /><br /> <br />Description - This modification will allow users to join a particular group upon sign-up. It gives a drop down list of groups available to them to join, and will automatically make that user a member of that group.<br /><br />Working Under - UBB.Threads 6.2 <br /><br />Pre-requisites - no files - but additional groups will need to be set up via admin/create new groups. Existing groups on a clean install of 6.2 are Administrator(1), Moderator(2), User(3) and Guest(4). Therefore additional groups will be created from 5 upwards sequentially.<br /><br />Author - JustDave<br /><br />Credits - JustDave for the original code - tweaked by canvey for 6.2<br /><br />Files Altered - /templates/default/newuser_signup.tmpl /adduser.php<br /><br />Database Altered - none <br /><br />New Files - none <br /><br />Other Info - Backup your database and your files before modifing!!!!!

No probs - I have the one working to allow all members (including mods & admins) to change groups by themselves. I will write this up as well, and release it in case it helps someone else.<br /><br />Ian

I have it working on my site now that people can join and leave groups by themselves.<br /><br />As it is really a seperate hack, I will write this up, and release it.<br /><br />That hack could then be modified to send a request to admin in the same way as the change of display name does now.<br /><br />I will release it in simple form first, and then we can look at expanding it.<br /><br />Ian<br /><br />
